Cats and carpets.

I like cats, I do, I have three of them so I must. But every so often this responsible pet owner feels like throttling her charges.
The Marklar, for no apparent reason, decided to pee on the large deep pile rug in the living room. said rug is now outside while I work out the best way to clean it and ensure the fragrant stench of cat wee is removed. For if not removed fully it's like an open invitation to reuse it as a bathroom.
Where is the Marklar now?
Sunning himself down the bottom of the garden, without a care in his one eyed bonce. Bah, a fine start to my Sunday.

Baking soda* helps get rid of smells. So does shooting your cat, though. I had a similar problem lately and only my lack of a gun determined the solution for me.

*Careful not to use baking powder by mistake. The smell will rise.

there's actually a great product called "odoban" - although i'm not sure if you can get it outside the US. it's the only thing (save for steam cleaning with specialized solution) that i've found to remove the smell.

more often than not i find i want to throttle my cats for leaving their little tufts of fur all over the carpet - within minutes of vacuuming.

Fur and hair I can cope with, cat wee I cannot. It's one of the worst smells ever. I've never heard of Odoban, but Marks and Spencers do a really good lavander carpet stain remover which works wonders for lifting pongs and grime, after which I gave it a quick shampoo and now I'm waiting for it to dry with my fingers crossed.

Ugh.
My fat cat punished us for getting the two dogs by pissing all over one house. It took ages to sell it because I couldn't get rid of the smell.
It's the worst part about having the kittehs.

Just throw it away.

Cat piss.....ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I recently was the lucky clod who got to do a story with a woman who rescues cats and then rehomes them. She had TWENTY of them in various cages around her house. I almost passed out at the smell.

Hi I found carbolic soap good. When one of mine had a tummy bug I used it a LOT and it was great and doesn't destroy your carpet

Cheers for the tip. Unfortunately my attempts to clean it yesterday have proved fruitless. Stupid pongy cats.

Indeed. And today's adventures in multi-species feces also include an offering from the aging Labrador, a stash of mouse excrement, (in a 5 cat household), and ants. In February.
Cocktails?
